Crown Lengthening

In the event that there is not enough tooth structure for your General Dentist to restore a tooth, you may be referred for crown lengthening.  This usually happens If a tooth is fractured or has extensive decay which extends below the gums.  If the restoration is too close to the bone then either the crown will not fit properly, or the gums may be constantly red and sore.  Crown lengthening creates more space for your General Dentist to get you a crown that can last for years.

Esthetic crown lengthening  can be done to improve the look of your teeth when you smile.  If there is a gummy smile or teeth look too short it may be due to excess gum tissue covering the crown of the teeth.  In other cases there teeth may look uneven.  Esthetic crown lengthening can make your smile look better by creating harmony of the teeth and gums.
